Private Lessons

We offer private lessons for kids and adults.

Wheel: For a first time throwing lesson 2 hours is an ideal length of time. Please note that we have a 1.5 hour minimum for all lessons, 2 hours for groups of 7 or more. For a one time lesson, we can finish the pots you throw for $15 per pot if you choose to keep any. Shipping is available. We recommend at least 3 lessons in order to learn the whole process of making pots on the wheel from throwing, to trimming the leather hard pieces to glazing after they’ve been bisque fired.

Hand-Building: You select a project, such as mugs, vases or a planter. You will be walked through each step to complete the project in approximately 2 hours, from construction to surface decoration with texture and color. We fire and glaze for you. All participants must make the same basic project (don’t worry, there’s plenty of room for creativity and individuality). Other project examples: keepsake box, pinch pots, slab built wall pocket vase. See some examples below.

Kids: We LOVE doing private lessons with kids, either on their own, with a group of friends or with parents or grandparents! If you are in the area for an extended period we can even arrange a private kids camp. Kids under the age of 5 will need to work with an adult family member on their project. Kids under 3 are really just too young. We will do wheel lessons with ages 7+, while 6 and younger need to stick to hand-building as they just don’t have the strength to throw on the wheel yet.

Pots are usually ready to be picked up in about 3-4 weeks. Shipping is available with additional cost.

Lesson Pricing:

$80/hour for 1 person
$45/hour for each additional person up to 7 people

Pot Finishing:
Glaze Only $5/pot
Trim & Glaze $15/pot
Trim, Glaze & Handle $20/mug

Example of Pricing: for 3 people to take a 2 hour wheel class the cost would be $340. If each person chose to have 2 pots finished (6 total), it would cost an additional $90
